Charity Preston's Blog
Unnecessary Article

If you are a follower of The Organized Classroom Blog, you will probably already know that I am taking a week off from blogging to hang out with my family. So, imagine my surprise when I sat down last night to actually read a magazine for fun, and not 15 minutes into my pleasure reading, I came across this article from this month's LHJ. Please take a moment to read it as I was appalled that such a reputable magazine would allow ridicule opinions of teaching and placing importance on their child's milestones (however small they may be).

While I do understand it was an opinion piece, and perhaps it was just for "shock value," the shock certainly did the trick on me. I haven't been able to get it out of my mind.
Am I being oversensitive and should just take it as fun (though I don't think I could manage that)?
What is the magazine's role in this? By printing such an article, should they be held responsible too? Does it change your opinion of this publication? For me, I can promise you it will be a long time before I actually purchase another as right now I just have a bad taste in my mouth.
How do we make sure to combat these types of views of teachers? What are your thoughts? I would love to hear from you below. And if you are a blogger, feel free to forward to your fans and followers, making sure to tag in The OC Blog - I want LHJ to know how disappointed I was with their decision. Thanks everyone!
