The boats, caved out pumpkins, were used by a hardy bunch of sailors in the 6th annual Pumpkin Regatta, in Cooperstown, NY. Giant pumpkins were trucked in from VT, NH, MA,PA as well as NY, and that between 60-80 pumpkins made the journey. Not all were entered in the race due to the fact that gases build up in these mammoth jack-o-lanterns and some exploded along the route. The Pumpkin Regatta takes place the first week in October. # October 2010: PUMPKIN NEWS: # Chris Stevens grows pumpkins in his 10,000 sq. ft. pumpkin patch in New Richmond, Wis.
