Consider if at the end of 2nd grade, your students will be asked to "Recount stories, including fables and folktales from diverse cultures, and determine their central message, lesson, or moral." What lessons or steps will you ask your kindergarten students and first grade students as they work to prepare for proficiency in that standard?
