Vent time....I am a brand new teacher and I just feel like all the experienced teachers I've met have something to say about how to teach. I'm bombarded with all these ideas or suggestions on top of learning an extensive amount of duties and requirements (planning, assesments, workshops etc.) I just wanna SCREAM and back out but I'm too far in to give up now....lol. Another thing is that I wanna be the best teacher ever but I feel bad that I might outdo or show up the other teachers at the school (mainly the one I'm replacing). Tomorrow is the first day of school and I am getting super nervous for many reasons. Give me some advice on any of this? Thanks-M

Just got an assignment in from my high school intern (a news article) and while the reporting was good, the writing was atrocious. She's in AP English? Has student writing gotten worse?

I had a teacher today tell me about getting dozens (literally) of emails from one parent demanding incredible amounts of extra attention for her child (who was a good student doing well in the class). Has anyone been similarly bothered by an overzealous parent?

While I'm not an educator, I do deal with the public in my job as editor of a community-based Web site. I love most people, but I'd have to say my biggest complaint is people who no matter what you do for them it's never enough. I imagine this happens with teachers all the time? Anyone have any good stories? No names, please.
