Inspiring Teachers
As a student, I was fortunate enough to have many wonderful and inspiring teachers to learn from. Now that my children are in school, I'm so pleased to see them both have some as well. For instance, my daughter's preschool teacher and aide last year were both wonderful -- positive, update, kind and caring. I couldn't have asked for better.
Have your kids had inspiring teachers? What made them so wonderful?

Our son, now 21, was an active and advanced learner from the preschool years and the most inspiring teachers didn't let him rest on his laurels but challenged him and differentiated the instruction to meet his needs. Those teachers, in contrast with those that let him "slide along" or didn't take the time to stimulate him intellectually and help him learn to think are those I least remember.
A plug for my favorite "Inspiring Teacher", a fellow columnist at Educationworld.com: Emma McDonald has a website called "Inspiring Teachers". Her goal is to empower beginning teachers and to inspire those working with them (plus give every teacher a shot of inspiration, which we all need from time to time). Visit her articles at : http://www.educationworld.com/a_curr/columnists/mcdonald/mcdonald.shtml.
