I usually write something on the board to keep students busy while I do the usual chores. I just found something new, I think, on the scholastic.com website which will make my life easier when we get back next week. It is called Daily Starter, and it has a bit of math and LA, plus some type of thinking/high interest idea for each day. Looks like grades K-8.

GREAT
Yes, that's always a good idea. When it's part of their routine, then the students know exactly what is expected of them so you can get some of your stuff done while they are working indepenedently.
I recently wrote a blog that is similar to what you wrote about. You can check it out if you're interested:

Thanks for Sharing
It sounds like a great teaching tool Thanks for sharing.
Thanks!
I want to thank you for that tool. Sometimes, you are running behind, caught up in very exciting faculty meetings and such, and don't have time to have bellwork ready. This is a neat tool. I like how you can click and reveal the answer.

Great Tool
I just visited the site and it sounds a great tool. I would have loved to have had something like this when I was in the classroom. Thanks for sharing.
