Hi Sharlene!

There are educators who provide distance tutoring or depending on the location they might travel to your home. Contact an Advantage Testing tutor, they might have suggestions for you.

Local university?

Have you tried inquiring with local universities that have teacher prep programs? You may be able to have them circulate a flyer asking for upperclassmen (perhaps who are currently doing student teaching) who would be interested in tutoring. Also, I would inquire with any local teacher-supply stores to see if they know any retired teachers who would be interested.

Tutor for your third grader

I wish I lived in your area! I am a retired teacher and school counselor. I do tutoring all the time. I get my tutoring jobs through an online resource called WyZant. The way this works is that you the parent, the client fills out a form or questionnaire at the WyZant website and they send that information on to their tutors. We respond to your requests. You can contact us through email and ask us questions and gather information etc. After you have made a payment agreement with WyZant then we can exchange direct contact information. All payment arrangments are made through WyZant. That way I am guaranteed payment and you are guaranteed satisfaction. It is really a very good arrangemnt. Give them a search and see what you think. I am pretty sure they are located nation wide. Good luck.
